Museum Welcomes New President, John O. Baatz
                                          & Honors Outstanding Service

Retired business executive John O. Baatz of La Canada Flintridge (pictured at left) has been elected President of the Board of Trustees of Pasadena Museum for 2014-2015.  Baatz, who joined the PMH Board in 2008, previously served as Vice President and Treasurer.  The transition took place at the January meeting of the Board on Wednesday, January 22, at which time PMH honored outgoing President, Laura M. Thompson (pictured at right), with its prestigious Orrin Fox award for her strong leadership of the organization from 2011 to present, in particular during the challenging period of the Fenyes Mansion renovation. The Award is presented to Trustees /Officers in recognition of outstanding service to the Museum; it is named after Past Board President Orrin Fox.

On Saturday, January 28, PMH welcomed guests to join with Trustees, Staff and Volunteers at our Annual Meeting.  The celebratory occasion was highlighted by two very special awards for the year 2013:

Laura Verlaque, PMH Director of Collections presented The Lynn Emery Award to former PCC Library Services Dean, Mary Ann Laun, for her work with the Pasadena Digital History Network (PDHC). This award is given to someone who has used PMH's collections to enrich the community by sharing them with the public in a unique or commendable way. PMH Executive Director Jeannette O'Malley presented the Community Angel Award to Susan McManigal of The French Hand Laundry.  The Community Angel Award goes to a local business or individual whose extraordinary contributions have enriched the Museum. In her remarks, O'Malley confided that without the French Hand laundry's expertise and hands-on assistance preparing the designer gowns for display, Part II of 2013's enormously popular exhibition, I Do, I Do: Pasadena Ties the Knot, would not have been possible.
