The Fenyes Mansion was the first residence in the West San Gabriel Valley to encourage film production on its property. Eva Scott Fenyes welcomed film crews to her estate and took photos of the well-known actors and directors.

In 1912, D.W. Griffith became the first to use the property as a film location for his period costume drama When Kings Were the Law, starring Mabel Normand and Mae Marsh (retitled The Necklace).
