Blue Star Museums
Memorial Day through Labor Day 2013
Pasadena Museum of History is proud to once again join the more than 1,800 museums across the nation offering free admission this summer to active duty military personnel and their families as part of the 2013 Blue Star Museums program. The offer runs from Memorial Day (May 27) through Labor Day (September 2) as a means of showing our appreciation for those who are serving this nation.
Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment of the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa. The free admission program is available to any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), a DD Form 1173 ID card, or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes active duty U.S. military - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps - and up to five family members.

Nearly every city in the U.S. hosts a film festival. Now Pasadena can say that it does, too.
Pasadena Museum of History is proud to be part of these five fun filled days of art and culture revolving around the cinema. Stay tuned for details about the silent film screening and special lecture by world-
renowned film historian, Marc Wanamaker at PMH, as well as information about all the exciting Festival events.

Enjoy an elegant afternoon of gorgeous wedding fashions and delectable treats! This special docent-led tour of the current exhibition, I Do! I Do! Pasadena Ties the Knot -- Part I, 1850 to 1950, will offer behind-the-gowns stories and exquisite details of the 40+ vintage dresses on display in our galleries. 
Please join us as we celebrate the City's 127th birthday and commemorate the 100th anniversary of Pasadena's beloved landmark, the Colorado Street Bridge.
On the second Wednesday of the month, PMH presents a storytelling series in collaboration with the Pasadena Public Library, San Rafael branch. 
On the last day to see the beautiful wedding gowns in Part I of I Do! I Do! gather up your friends and loved ones to view the amazing workmanship of dressmakers from the past. Then join Ginger Alberti and Michael Sabo as they present Sew Cranky, a sewing workshop for all ages. Use the antique hand crank sewing machines, some that are 80 years old, to make a keepsake. The machines are beautiful to look at and simple to use.
Bridal headwear has an important place in fashion history that has yet to be fully acknowledged or investigated. Although many books have been written on wedding fashions and gowns, the details behind the hats and headwear worn by brides have been largely ignored or received only passing mention by the writers. For too long, millinery in general has been seen as the second cousin of couture fashion and not worthy of in-depth research.
