
The mission of PMH's
Textile Arts Council is to preserve and perpetuate the textile arts
through educational programs and Museum exhibitions. The Council's
goal is to connect the history of fiber arts with their contemporary
creative expression. The Textile Arts Council offers a variety of exceptional
programs. The following are examples of the types of programs that the Textile Arts Council has offered:
- Lectures by world-renowned scholars, craftsmen and artists
- Classes and demonstrations in traditional and contemporary textile
techniques
- Children's events to educate youth in the richness of textile
tradition
- Textile Identification Days providing documentation of community
resources
- Monthly Open Workshops offering opportunities to share in the
variety of textile experience
- Receptions including special showings of private collections
